Black and white is a favorite color combination, especially when wanting to add a more modern appeal to your home. For example a black corner cabinet set in a kitchen with white countertops and black cupboards adds to the overall sharp lines and features of the room. A black and white combination not only gives a very modern feel to a room but also gives an overall impression of organization and neatness. If you are concerned that the black and white combination is too severe you can lighten up the room considerably by adding a touch of color here and there. A nice vase with brilliantly colored artificial flowers sitting on top of the black corner cabinet will give an immediate, simple boost of color. If the cabinet has glass doors, try adding brightly colored cups and saucers inside the cabinet.
Black corner cabinets also fit in well when they are mounted on or stand next to a brick wall; especially if the cabinet has a matte black finish. It really does give an earthy, rustic look to a room which is great for a country style décor and often perfect for a kitchen, making it look homey and inviting. Again, you may want to make sure that there is a splash of color either on or inside of the cabinet.
Corners can often give the appearance of being rather dark, and adding a black corner cabinet will not necessarily lessen that appearance. One other way, aside from adding color to the area, is to make good use of lighting in the corner. A soft light installed above the cabinet will soften the whole appearance of the area.
Alternatively you may want to install small, soft lighting inside the cabinet itself. This can shine softly on the items sitting on the shelves, not only highlighting them but also adding softness to the area. Alternatively, spot lighting can be installed in the room and directed towards the corner where the black cabinet sits.
A black corner cabinet can be a great addition to any room, particularly one with either a black and white color scheme or brick walls. In order to soften the corner, make good use of color and lighting.
